Ameba uploads to Xbox 360

Canadian children’s VoD service Ameba has expanded its reach in North America by securing a place for its streaming app on Xbox 360.

The advertising-supported app is now available in the US and will be made available on the console in Canada tomorrow.

This latest launch follows the app being made available on Roku, LG Smart TV and Amazon Fire, while it is also available on the web and on mobile.

Tony Havelka, president and CEO of Ameba, said that the company has spent the past year “retooling the entire customer experience” to increase its user base.

Aimed at 2-12s, it now operates four different business models, which are subscription VoD, advertising VoD, rental and electronic sell through (transactional VoD).

“Ameba is simplified. We have eliminated the need for credit cards. We do not require any input of personal information. Parents do not need to set filters or timers for their children to enjoy our content. Viewers can watch all the videos in our catalogue immediately on all of our supported platforms,” said Havelka.
