AMC sends Shudder to Germany, Austria

AMC Networks has launched its thriller- and horror-skewing SVoD service Shudder in two more European countries.

Shudder is now available in Germany and Austria for €4.99 (US$ 5.81) per month, or €49.99 for 12 months.

The service has already been rolled out in the UK, Ireland and Canada since launching in the US in 2015.

Among its exclusive titles are French drama Missions, three-part series Beyond the Walls and Australian horror Wolf Creek, plus Shudder original The Core, a talkshow hosted by film director Mickey Keating.

The line-up is curated with the assistance of Sam Zimmerman, former editor of cult magazine Fangoria, and the Toronto International Film Festival’s Colin Geddes.

Linda Pan, senior VP of new digital business at Shudder, said: “These launches represent the growing demand for our unparalleled offering in the genre category and we look forward to ongoing global expansion.”

In related news, AMC Networks-owned streaming service Sundance Now has acquired the online rights in the US to Australian comedy series Rosehaven. This follows Sundance acquiring the show for its linear channel earlier this year.
