Castle’s Stana Katic stars in and exec produces Absentia

Amazon has added Sony crime thriller Absentia to its drama line-up, with all episodes set to air exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the US and select markets globally.

Other territories covered by the deal include Australia, Austria, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and the UK.

Absentia, produced by Masha Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN), in association with its international networks division, will also be available in additional markets after its linear broadcast debut.

The show has so far aired in Spain, Portugal, Romania and Poland on SPTN’s AXN channels. It is executive produced and directed by Oded Ruskin (False Flag) alongside exec producers Matt Cirulnick (South Beach), Julie Glucksman, Stana Katic (Castle) and Maria Feldman (False Flag, Fauda).

Set to premiere on Amazon in 2018, the series follows an FBI agent, played by Katic, who disappears while hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers.

Absentia was created by Gaia Violo and Cirulnick and the show is based on a pilot script written by Violo.
