Streaming giant Amazon has picked up the SVoD rights to hit BBC drama The Night Manager in three key territories.

Amazon Prime Video will be the exclusive online home to the series in the US, UK and Japan following a deal with distributor IMG and producer The Ink Factory.

The critically acclaimed six-parter was adapted from the spy novel by John le Carré and will be available to Prime subscribers later this year.

The series will sit alongside existing Amazon acquisitions including Orphan Black and Downton Abbey, as well as its originals such as forthcoming motoring series The World Tour, fronted by Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The Night Manager attracted an average of 6.3 million viewers during its run on BBC1 and recently premiered in the US on AMC.

The cast recently poured cold water on rumours of a second season, despite the first attracting critical acclaim.
