Amazon revs up McLaren series

Amazon has greenlit a docuseries that goes behind the scenes with Formula 1 race team McLaren ahead of the 2017 World Championship.

The as-yet-untitled series will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime Video subscribers.

It will include footage documenting how McLaren builds and tests a Formula 1 car and behind-the-scenes, never-before-seen coverage of the sponsor and partnership deals that finance the team.

“It will combine unparalleled access with exciting and dramatic storytelling that will appeal to racing fans and non-racing fans alike,” Conrad Riggs, head of unscripted for Amazon Originals, said of the show.

The series is executive produced by Bafta winner Manish Pandey (Senna, Ferrari, The Bentley Boys), Chris Connell and Anwar Nuseibeh.

It marks the latest unscripted motoring-themed commission from the streaming service, which ordered 24 Hours of Le Mans, about the gruelling endurance car race, last week and is home to The Grand Tour, from the former hosts of Top Gear.
