Amazon recruits Jack Ryan

Amazon is developing a series based on Tom Clancy’s CIA agent character Jack Ryan alongside Lost executive producer Carlton Cuse and Paramount TV.

The series will draw from the spy author’s numerous novels featuring Ryan, who has been played over the years by actors including Alex Baldwin, Harrison Ford and, most recently, Chris Pine.

It comes from Cuse and writer Graham Roland, Michael Bay’s prodco Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount TV.

Original reports suggested the streaming service had handed a straight-to-series order to the producers, but The Hollywood Reporter said the project is only in development.

Promising a new take on the Jack Ryan movies, the series will follow the character working as a CIA operative and use the books as a “jumping off point.”
