Amazon Fire adds animé on-demand

US animé outfit Funimation Entertainment has launched a streaming app on Amazon Fire TV in the US and UK.

The FunimationNow app makes animé TV series and movies such as My Hero Academia, Dimension W, Attack on Titan and Fairy Tail available to stream ad-free to subscribers for US$4.99 a month.

A free version, which gives users access to a limited animé library with video advertising, is also available.

FunimationNow was unveiled to the public in January at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show and launched on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows 10 devices in March.
