All3Media’s Liar covers new ground

Liar stars Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd

MIPCOM: Swedish public broadcaster SVT has picked up six-part ITV drama Liar from distributor All3Media International.

The distribution arm of the production giant has secured several deals for the drama, produced by Two Brothers Pictures, here in Cannes this week.

Other broadcasters to have picked up the show include 365 Media (Iceland), DBS Satellite (Israel) and TV3 (Ireland), alongside a pan-regional deal with BBC Global covering Africa, Benelux and the Middle East.

Liar, which debuted on ITV in the UK last month, has also been bought by Germany’s SquareOne Entertainment for sale across the German-speaking market.

Written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing), Liar tells the story of a night that changes the lives of Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt) and Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd).

Created for ITV (UK) and SundanceTV (US), the drama had already been acquired by TF1 (France), Seven Network (Australia), TVNZ (New Zealand) and HBO (Spain, CEE and the Nordics).
