All3Media invests in Story Films

Story Films’ David Nath (let) and Peter Beard

All3Media has invested in a fledgling UK documentary and drama production company set up by filmmakers David Nath and Peter Beard.

Nath (The Watchman) and Beard (My Son the Jihadi), who first worked together on Channel 4’s mental health series Bedlam four years ago, launched Story Films in 2016 with the intention of “blurring the lines between factual and drama.”

Financial details of All3Media’s investment were not disclosed. The deal means All3Media International will be the distribution partner for Story Films.

Story is currently in production on an as-yet-unannounced C4 drama and a blue-chip factual series for the same broadcaster. It is also in development on a number of projects for US networks, according to All3Media.

Story Films plans to work with Layla Smith at Objective Media Group as the business develops, especially in the US, All3Media added.

All3Media is jointly owned by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global. Its group comprises 25 production and distribution companies across the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and the US.
