Discovery and Liberty Global-owned All3Media has taken a stake in UK factual TV and film production outfit Caravan.
Founded by Dinah Lord and Juliet Singer in 2015, the indie produces specialist factual programmes, documentaries and current affairs series for the UK, US and international market.
The firm’s recent credits include Panorama – Britain’s Mental Health Crisis and A Royal Wedding: Indian Style. It is also in production for Sky Arts, BBC3 and NHK and has previously funded development from Discovery Networks International, Channel 4 and ITV.
All3 is pumping in an undisclosed amount of funding into the prodco, with further financial details being kept under wraps.
“Dinah and Juliet have a vision for Caravan that is really exciting. They believe in high quality, challenging and distinctive programme making and when that’s coupled with their passion, business acumen and sense of humour, it’s irresistible,” said Jane Turton, CEO, Discovery- and Liberty Global-backed All3Media.
“I am delighted that they have chosen All3Media as their partner and look forward to Dinah and Juliet achieving great things putting Caravan on the map around the world.”
Keith Havilland, CEO of Havilland Digital and an independent film producer, is also backing the company and will be joining the board.
Lord (Grayson Perry, World’s Most Luxurious Shoes) is previously executive produced at Brook Lapping, Swan Films, Silver River and Pulse Films for UK and international broadcasters and before that was at UK pubcaster BBC.
Singer (Child of Our Time) has previously developed, produced and directed factual programming for the BBC and several indies including Wall to Wall, Silver River and The Garden, both in the UK and US.
Caravan is the latest UK prodco to join All3Media’s roster of indies, following a deal for drama indie New Pictures in January [1].
C21 reported yesterday [2] that Mark Downie is leaving All3Media-owned Maverick Television after nearly a decade at the UK production firm.
