New Pictures was set up in 2013 by veteran producer Charlie Pattinson. The move marks the second time one of the exec’s prodcos has been acquired by All3Media.

Company Pictures, the indie Pattinson departed in 2012 to set up New Pictures, was bought by All3Media in 2004.

Pattinson and All3 maintained a close working relationship, with distribution arm All3Media International selling New Pictures’ drama series The Missing (BBC, Starz) and Indian Summers globally.

Meanwhile, it has recently received commissions from BBC1 for two new drama series, titled Rellik and Requiem.

The acquisition is All3’s second since it was taken over in May 2013 by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global.

The deal sees the superindie continue to grow its scripted credentials following its acquisition of Call the Midwife indie Neal Street Productions last year.

All3’s stable of drama prodcos also includes Bentley Productions, as well as the drama division of Studio Lambert, while it invested in a fledgling London-based television drama company from renowned directors, writers and producers Anand Tucker and Sharon Maguire last year.

“This is a very exciting new phase for New Pictures. We have a long and successful history with All3 Media, Jane Turton and her team, and we are looking forward to working together even more closely to grow our slate both in the UK and internationally,” said Pattinson.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
