All3Media backs Bullion

Liberty Global- and Discovery-owned production and distribution group All3Media has taken a stake in another UK prodco, backing one of the firms behind BBC comedy People Just Do Nothing.

People Just Do Nothing started life on YouTube

Bullion Productions was founded in 2010 and has also worked on States of Undress for Viceland and Wannabe for BBC3, among others. The size of the investment and stake have not been disclosed but All3Media International, the group’s sales arm, will now distribute Bullion’s content globally.

Bullion was co-founded by MD Jack Newman, creative directors Ben Murray and James Willis, and head of post production Anna Meller.

Newman has 10 years’ experience as a producer and director, with recent credits including Heal Me in the Name of Jesus, Wannabe and States of Undress, plus YouTube’s Creators for Change.

Murray is a writer and director whose recent comedy credits include Wannabe and People Just Do Nothing, while his music video credits include works by Ed Sheeran Jack White, Duke Dumont, Disclosure and Slaves.

Willis has more than seven years’ directing and producing experience, focusing on high-end branded sport content, including work with Adidas and European Tour Golf. He also has credits on music videos for Soulwax and Django Django.

Meller has spent more than 10 years as an editor in film and TV, working on projects at the Sundance and Berlin Film festivals. Her recent credits include Searching for Spitman for Vice and The Power of Privacy for The Guardian, plus documentary General Magic, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival last year.

It’s the latest expansion of the All3Media portfolio of production companies. The group comprises 28 firms in the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and the US, including Lion Television, Maverick Television, Objective Media Goup, Raw and Studio Lambert.

Jane Turton, All3Media CEO, said: “Bullion Productions is growing into a really exciting multifaceted, next-generation production company. It has huge potential and I’m really pleased to support them as they grow their business over the next few years. I’m delighted to welcome such a creative, dynamic and talented team to the All3Media Group.”

Murray added: “All3Media feels like the next big step for us. We’ve built the company from the ground up independently and we feel now is a perfect time for a partnership that will help accelerate our efforts in the field of longform entertainment.”
