Motley’s Law centres on a US attorney working in Afghanistan

US cablenet Al Jazeera America has acquired a documentary about the justice system and human rights situation in post-war Afghanistan.

Motley’s Law, which is currently screening at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), will make its US debut on the network in February 2016.

The film was produced by Helle Faber from Danish prodco Made in Copenhagen and received support from European public broadcasters DR, YLE and SVT.

It follows Kimberley Motley, who works as a defence lawyer in Kabul, leaving her husband and three children at home in the US.

The documentary, distributed internationally by Denmark- and US-based LevelK, will premiere in Danish cinemas on January 28.
