A+E’s Truckers reach Far East

Broadcasters across Europe and the Far East have acquired A+E Networks reality series including Ice Road Truckers and Swamp People.

La Sexta in Spain has picked up both shows along with American Pickers, Ax Men, The First 48 and Intervention.

Ice Road Truckers has also been sold to DR in Denmark along with Big Shrimpin’ and IRT Deadliest Roads. Sanoma Entertainment in Finland has taken American Pickers, Hoarders and Gene Simmons Family Jewels among others for Nelonan, Jim TV and Liv TV.

In the Far East, Chinese channels ICS and Phoenix have gone for series including Cities of the Underworld and Swamp People. CCTV is to air Swamp People, How the Earth Was Made, Food Tech, and Inspector America.

The sales drive has been led by Marielle Zuccarelli, MD international content distribution, who joined A+E from GRB Entertainment in March.

Christian Murphy, senior VP of international programming and marketing at A+E, told C21’s Talking Shop this week that as well as selling completed series, A+E was keen to increase the distribution of its formats globally.
