FYI TV18 will launch on the DTH, digital and cable platforms in India in July. The network will feature more than 100 hours of Hindi-language lifestyle programming to start with, including three locally produced shows at launch.

It will also draw content from its US parent, with series such as Man vs Child, Tiny House Nation, Seven Year Switch and Arranged part of the schedule.

A+E previously partnered with TV18, part of Reliance-owned Network 18, to launch History TV18 in India and revealed it is eyeing other channels in its portfolio to extend the relationship.

FYI launched in the US with Jana Bennett at the helm in early 2014, replacing A+E’s Bio channel. It has since rolled out in Canada and South-East Asia.

Meanwhile, A+E is increasing its stake in The History Channel Japan, a joint venture with Super Network/Tohokushisha, from 50% to 80%.

The channel will continue to operate as a JV with the support of Super Network’s infrastructure in Japan. The pair have been partners since establishing the venture on a 50/50 basis in 2000.
