A+E Studios, Thruline in development deal

The in-house production arm of US broadcaster A+E Networks has signed a first-look development deal with LA-based management and production company Thruline Entertainment.

The two-year agreement is aimed at creating and producing scripted content for A+E’s portfolio of networks as well as third-party channels and platforms.

Tana Jamieson, senior VP at A+E Studios, said her company was looking to collaborate closely with a roster of creatives on premium scripted content “across a variety of platforms,” including A+E brands such as Lifetime, A&E, Viceland and History.

Thruline was founded in 2002 by Ron West, Chris Henze and JB Roberts. It produced the long-running USA Network comedy Psych through its Tagline subsidiary, which has since been consolidated into the main company.

Current Thruline production projects include Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, recently picked up for a third season, and streamer Hulu’s I Love You, America, exec produced by Thruline manager Amy Zvi.

A+E Studios has become known for drama series including Roots, Knightfall and UnREAL since its launch in 2013.
