A&E makes final Intervention

A&E Network is drawing its award winning Intervention series to a close after eight years and more than 240 episodes.

The US cablenet has announced that the five-episode fourteenth season, due to begin on June 13 at 21.00, will be the last.

The show, produced by GRB Entertainment, focuses on addicts and their problems before they are given an ultimatum by friends and family members to go to rehabilitation or risk losing contact and income.

Intervention, which premiered in March 2005, was given an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series in 2009.

David McKillop, executive VP of programming at A&E Network and Bio Channel, said in a statement: “We’re honored to have been a part of the 243 interventions since its premiere in March of 2005, leading to the 156 individuals that are currently sober to this day.”
