Bates Motel is coming to an end

US cablenet A&E Network is ending its Psycho prequel Bates Motel after its forthcoming fifth season.

Producers revealed at Comic-Con on Friday that the previously announced fifth season of the show, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic, will be its last.

The show, produced by Universal Television for the A+E Networks-owned channel, explores how serial killer Norman Bates unravels during his teenage years.

The show is distributed internationally by NBCU International Television Distribution and has previously sold to Universal Channel in the UK and Foxtel in Australia among others.
