A+E alum takes int’l job at ProSiebenSat.1

Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 Group has hired a former A+E Networks UK and RTL Group executive for a newly created position focusing on international business.

Nicolas Eglau

Nicolas Eglau, who left the UK arm of the US channels operator earlier this year, has joined ProSiebenSat.1 as executive VP of international.

Eglau was the chief operating officer and general manager for Nordics, Benelux and CEEMEA at A+E Networks UK, having joined the firm in 2015 after over a decade with RTL Group.

At ProSiebenSat.1 Group, Eglau will be based in London and Munich and will report to ProSiebenSat.1’s executive board.

He will lead and expand the company’s international activities and network, starting immediately. He will also be responsible for the European Media Alliance, a network of European media companies that ProSiebenSat.1 established in 2013 in a bid to create investment opportunities between operators in the region.

Christof Wahl, member of the executive board, digital and chief operating officer at ProSiebenSat.1, said: “Nicolas Eglau has extensive experience in both TV and digital and a broad, international network. With him, we will expand our international cooperation ventures and generate growth and additional revenues beyond Germany’s borders.”

The appointment follows ProSiebenSat.1’s announcement this week that its CEO, Thomas Ebeling, will leave the company by the end of February 2018.

Conrad Albert, who has been with the company since 2005, has been appointed deputy chairman of ProSiebenSat.1’s executive board while the firm searches for a successor.
