Adult Swim warms up Shivering Truth

Turner-owned US cablenet Adult Swim has ordered two animated series, including a surreal anthology comedy.

The Shivering Truth, which will debut later this year, has been created and written by Vernon Chatman, who also serves as director alongside Cat Solen. It explores themes around classic parables and is executive produced by US prodco PFFR with animation studio Shadow Machine.

Also on the slate is Tigtone, a 15-minute animated show created by Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martin, who also serve as executive producers with Blake Anderson (Workaholics).

The show is set in the Middle Ages and follows a quest-addicted hero who is unaware of the collateral damage he is inflicting. The series attempts to “both celebrate and subvert tropes of the fantasy genre, role-playing games, video games and films,” Adult Swim said.

Adult Swim’s parent Turner is in the process of being acquired by US telco giant AT&T as part of its US$85bn deal for the Time Warner group – although the US government is continuing to oppose the deal.
