Acorn TV ties up Tangled Lies

Scomparsa airs in Italy on Rai

Acorn TV, the North American SVoD service dedicated to international television, is adding an exclusive Italian drama to its line-up.

Tangled Lies, aka Scomparsa, follows a single mother whose life is thrown into anguish when her only daughter and a friend disappear on their way home one night.

The series, which airs in Italy on Rai and is distributed by the public broadcaster’s sales arm, will debut in the US on August 27. It joins other future additions to Acorn TV’s library, such as Australian drama Mystery Road and season two of UK police procedural No Offence.

Acorn TV owner RLJ Entertainment recently hired Catherine Mackin as MD of Acorn Media Enterprises, the UK-based development division of Acorn TV.

Mackin has more than 20 years of programming experience and spent the past eight years as director of programme acquisitions at UKTV, overseeing its scripted and non-scripted acquisitions, coproductions and pre-sales.

Mackin will now oversee Acorn TV’s growing commissioning and coproduction slate, based out of London. The exec replaces Shane Murphy, who is returning home to Dublin as group head of drama and comedy at public broadcaster RTÉ.
