Acorn detects BBC comedy

Acorn TV, the US subscription VoD service dedicated to British television, has acquired the second season of BBC comedy Detectorists from distributor DRG.

The series, about the friendship between two metal detecting enthusiasts, will be available on Acorn from April 4.

The service has also added the sixth season of crime drama Vera, from ITV Studios Global Entertainment, which launches on Acorn on March 21.

This month Acorn picked up Australian legal drama Janet King. The move followed the acquisition of procedural crime drama Suspects from FremantleMedia International and Channel 4 doc Liberty of London from DCD Rights.
