ABC shakes up Family VPs

ABC Family in the US has promoted from within to replace its departed VP of current programming, while its senior VP of original programming has also stepped down.

Jennifer Gerstenblatt, previously an executive director at the channel, has been upped to the role left vacant by Kelly Goode, who has left ABC Family after two years, according to a Deadline report.

Gerstenblatt joined ABC’s sister network in 2006 having previously worked in the comedy development unit of Sony Pictures Television. Since then she has worked on series such as Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth and Chasing Life at ABC Family.

Meanwhile, senior VP of original programming Brooke Bowman has stepped down but will continue to work for the Disney-owned channel as a consultant.

ABC Family is aiming to double its original programming slate over the next four years, adding to existing originals such as Stitchers, Young & Hungry, Shadowhunters and Recovery Road.
