ABC Oz orders Conway late show

Australian pubcaster ABC has commissioned a late-night satirical series, which it bills as the world’s smallest Tonight Show.

John Conway Tonight will debut on ABC2

GNWTV will produce John Conway Tonight, starring the stand-up comic whose stage show has the same title, for digital channel ABC2.

Conway will dance, entertain and interview guests from the confines of a bar while the walls collapse around him.

He will be joined by sidekick Aaron Chen, his manager Robbie Tarocash and comedians including Will Erimya, Jenna Owen, Ben Russell, Victoria Zerbst, Penny Greenhalgh, Sam Campbell, Clinton Haines, Tom Walker and Edan Lacey.

The show will premiere on ABC2, catch-up platform iview, ABC2 Facebook and ABC YouTube at 21.00 on Sunday April 16 and run for 12 weeks, immediately following the Doctor Who-themed panel show Whovians.
