420TV sparks up In Amsterdam

420TV, the cannabis-orientated lifestyle OTT network, has begun work on a travel series about Amsterdam’s cannabis culture with Zoomin Studios.

In Amsterdam comes shortly after 420TV’s owner, US OTT tech and content company OwnZones Media Network, signed a three-year strategic partnership with Dutch digital content creator Zoomin.TV.

The show will be hosted by model, VJ host and TV actor Veronica van Hoogdalem and will take viewers on a tour of the Dutch capital’s so-called coffee shops and nightlife. It will be shot in 4K.

Jamie Goold has been signed up as the director, having previously worked on series such as Fishing Impossible for BBC Earth, Combat Dealers for Discovery and Earth’s Wildest Waters: The Big Fish for BBC2.

“Whether it’s the local Dutch Pot Festival, nightlife or what’s cooking up in your neighbourhood kitchen, we want to produce engaging stories that appeal to the young, curious In Amsterdam audience. What MTV was to Gen X and Y is what 420TV will be Gen Z,” said Richard Chambers, head of Zoomin Studios.

420TV is set to launch in January 2018 through 420TV.com as well as on iOS and Android platforms on both mobile and tablet.

Its name refers to 4:20pm, the time pot enthusiasts have been known to light up in certain cultures, and will offer news, entertainment and lifestyle programming that is related to cannabis.
