20th Century taps Sony’s Wong in Asia

Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution (TCFTVD) has appointed a veteran Sony executive as its sales director in Asia.

Yan-Jong Wong

Yan-Jong Wong will operate out of Fox’s newly established Singapore office. She will report to Brendan Zauner, senior VP of television distribution in Asia.

Wong’s primary responsibilities will be to license TCFTVD content across pay, SVoD, AVoD, basic and free TV, as well as scripted format sales throughout markets including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos.

Prior to joining TCFTVD, Wong was VP of English content channels at Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks in Asia, overseeing AXN and Sony Channel.

Wong began at Sony in 2000 as director of acquisitions and scheduling for AXN, before becoming executive director of AXN and later rising to VP.

Earlier in her career, she served as senior programming manager at Discovery Networks in Asia and was the head of acquisitions for Channel 5 at the Television Corporation of Singapore.

“The market is changing at a dynamic pace and with the addition of Yan, Fox is better placed than ever before to explore the many opportunities presenting themselves across the region,” said Richard Samuels, executive VP of Asia Pacific and MD of Sydney, TCFTVD.
