12 new series for 20th Century Fox

LA SCREENINGS: 20th Century Fox TV Distribution has 12 new broadcast shows on its slate for buyers in LA next week – four comedies and eight dramas – including shows being made for rivals NBC and ABC.

Comedy

Making History 20th Century Fox TV, Lord Miller Productions. Three friends find an unlikely way to time travel, complicating their personal lives. The single-cam show debuts in the post-Simpsons slot at 20.30 on Sundays from mid-season on Fox.

The Mick 20th Century Fox TV, 3 Arts Entertainment, Bingbangboom Productions. A hard-living woman gets landed with her wealthy sister’s children after she flees the country. It fills the Tuesday 20.30 slot on Fox from mid-season.

Son of Zorn 20th Century Fox TV, Lord Miller Productions. Live-action/animation hybrid about a man who returns to a mundane life on Earth after waging war in space. Ordered straight to series, the show will fill the 20.30 post-Simpsons slot on Fox from this fall.

Speechless 20th Century Fox TV, ABC Studios. Single-cam comedy about a child with special needs and his family’s daily life. Starring Minnie Driver and with Friends writer Scott Silveri penning the script and exec producing, it will fill the Wednesday 20.30 slot on ABC from this fall.

Drama

24: Legacy 20th Century TV, Imagine TV, Teakwood Lane Productions. Another instalment of the franchise but with new characters, including a US military hero (Corey Hawkins) who must stop a terror attack. Ordered straight to series, the show fills the Monday 20.00 slot on Fox early next year.

APB 20th Century Fox TV. A tech billionaire attempts to reform the police after a loved one’s murder. From exec producer/director Len Wiseman (Underworld) and exec producer/writer Matt Nix (Burn Notice), it fills the Monday 21.00 hour on Fox from mid-season.

The Exorcist 20th Century Fox TV, Morgan Creek Productions. Reinvention of the 1973 film based on William Blatty’s novel about a case of demonic possession. Destined for the Friday 21.00 slot on Fox from this fall, the “contemporary psychological thriller” is directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

Pitch 20th Century TV, Rhode Island Ave Productions. A young female pitcher becomes the first woman to play in the major league. From writers/exec producers Dan Fogelman (Cars) and Rick Singer (American Dad), it is heading into the Tuesday 21.00 slot on Fox from spring 2017.

Prison Break 20th Century Fox TV. Based on the original series that ended in 2009, exploring a man’s attempts to free his condemned brother. Ordered straight to series, the show fills the Thursday 21.00 slot on Fox from mid-season.

Shots Fired 20th Century TV, Imagine TV, Undisputed Cinema. An investigator and a prosecutor arrive in a small Tennessee town in the aftermath of racially charged shootings. Ordered straight to series, the show is heading into the Wednesday 20.00 slot on Fox in spring 2017.

Star 20th Century Fox TV. Queen Latifah stars in Lee Daniels’ show about a fledgling girl group targeting fame and fortune. Ordered straight to series, the show stars Queen Latifah and Lenny Kravitz and will fill the Wednesday 21.00 slot on Fox from mid-season.

This is Us 20th Century Fox TV. A dramedy that explores the lives of characters all born on the same day. Dan Fogelman is writer and the show fills the Tuesday 21.00 slot on NBC from this fall.

20th Century Fox sales execs will also be showcasing two-hour special The Rocky Horror Picture Show, produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, The Jackal Group and Ode Sounds & Visuals.
